Welcome to Applied Weather Associates

We specialize in Probable Maximum Precipitation (PMP) studies and analysis, Hydrometeorology analysis, Hydraulic model Calibration and Validation, Storm Analysis, Dynamic NEXRAD Radar analysis using SPAS, Forensic Meteorology, and Weather Modification.  All of our site-specific and regional PMP studies have received regulator (Federal/State/Local) approval or are in the process of being approved.  For a look at our current and most recent list of work, please go to the Projects page. 

Our unique SPAS Real-Time application; which allows for state of the science storm analysis for use in hydraulic calibration, modeling, inflow forecasting, Real-time Average Recurrence Interval determination, Real-Time Depth-Area-Duration analysis, and many other applications, is now running on several watersheds.

  • AWA is comprised of Dr. Ed Tomlinson, President and Chief Meteorologist,
    Bill Kappel, Vice President and Senior Meteorologist,
    Geoff Muhlestein, GIS specialist and staff scientist, Patrice Sutter, Staff Meteorologist, and Katie Campbell, Staff Meteorologist.  We also work closely with Metstat, Inc in our storm analysis, hydrometeorological applications, and database management and with Weather Decision Technologies WDT, Inc for our radar data.
